The long awaited successor to the popular BWG line of Gimbal Heads is here, the Jobu Design BWG-Pro Black Widow Professional Gimbal Head. The BWG-Pro is the latest addition recently added to the Jobu Design Modular Family, a complete camera support system for photographers. Demand by ultra-telephoto users (600-800mm+ natural focal length lenses) for a superior gimbal head, has inspired Jobu Design to create what they believe is the best gimbal head available. The New BWG-Pro is all original in design with an uncompromising finish level in every aspect. Jobu Design have engineered this gimbal head from the ground up, no details were skipped or deemed insignificant.
Features of the BWG-Pro: • Over sized, one-piece cast and heat-treated construction. Incredible stiffness and rigidity. Absolutely cannot be compared to any other gimbal head in terms of stiffness. • Full ball bearing support in tilt-axis for ZERO static/dynamic friction. 100% smooth movement. • Newly redesigned and stiffened horizontal mount swing-arm for better control. Spring loaded movement for increased control. • Soft-touch rubberized knobs for better use with bare or gloved hands, especially when wet (similar to our Jr.2 knobs). • Newly designed low-profile lockout switch (locks tilt movement for travel). Cannot break off, and can easily be replaced if ever necessary. • Minimal weight penalty compared to our current BWG-HD2 model. Current build weight for the BWG-Pro is 1.6kgs. (3.5lbs.)
Separate Jobu Design Lensplate Required: Although Jobu Design Gimbal Heads come with a 63mm (2.5 inch) long 'standard' Arca-Swiss style* quick release clamp fitted as standard, you will have to purchase a Jobu Design Lensplate to fit to your lensfoot of your lens to use with your BWG-Pro Gimbal Head. There are 5 different sized Jobu Design Lensplates designed to fit all the different lens sizes variants available from all the lens manufacturers. To find out which lensplate you require for your particular lens or for further information see our Jobu Buying Guide for Lensplates.
Upgarde Your Quick Release Clamp: You can upgrade you're standard quick release clamp that comes fitted to your BWG-Pro with the QRR-3 Extra Long Quick Release Clamp (4", 100mm long) especally made to fit the BWG-Pro to give increased clamping power when using the larger lenses.
Using the Jobu Design BWG-Pro: Getting the best performance out of the BWG-Pro, we would recommend the use of a Gitzo Systematic Tripod as a stable platform, (tripod without a centre column). If you wish to use a good quality manufactured tripod with a centre column fitted (Gitzo, Manfrotto Carbon Fibre Tripod or Manfrotto Aluminium Tripod any other good quality tripod), we would recommend you use these tripods with the centre columns locked down tight to give the minimum amount of movement from that part of the tripod. Tripods Heads & Gimbals (THG) supply Gitzo Tripods as well as Manfrotto Carbon Fibre Tripods and Manfrotto Aluminium Tripods which we consider these to work well with the Jobu Design Gimbal Heads. THG also supply the Jobu Design SGP Skorpion Ground Pod to use with the BWG-Pro, the SGP is a lightweight small multi platform support that works well with photographers that target their photography from different positions and surfaces without having to use a tripod, mainly used for action shots in wildlife photography, sports events etc. Photographers with large lenses can purchase the new longer 100mm (4 inch) QRR-3 Arca-Swiss style* quick release clamp for a more stable and secure clamp.
We recommend the new BWG-Pro to anyone looking for the Ultimate Performance in the field, especially for Long Lens Support. The recommended lenses to be used with the BWG-Pro are from the 70-200mm f/2.8 to 800mm primes. If you are unsure or require further information on which Jobu Design Gimbal head is right for you, see our Buying Guide for Jobu Design Gimbals Heads.
